Job Overview

The position demands the responsibility of carrying out specific/invasive radiology procedures on patients while ensuring adherence to all radiation safety measures. This includes preparing patients for exams, explaining procedures, administering contrast when necessary, positioning patients for exams, choosing suitable imaging techniques, and ensuring the technical quality of the images.

Minimum Prerequisites

Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited institution offering a program in Radiologic Technology.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Mandatory certification in Basic or Advanced Life Support.
  • A current license or temporary license issued by the relevant state medical board.
  • Registration as a Radiology Technologist by a nationally recognized registry.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Four years of previous experience as a Special Procedures Technologist.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver patients in conjunction with others to carry out job duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate smooth patient flow and ensure delivery of quality services in the department.
  • Showcase excellent technical skills and act as a resource and mentor to staff and less experienced technologists. Introduce and demonstrate new techniques to other technologists.
  • Regularly review the list of incomplete exams and status of unsigned reports.
  • Serve as a bridge between physicians, technologists, and department support staff.
  • Enter and monitor patient data and health history relevant to the exam being performed.
  • Carry out quality assurance on radiology equipment, recommend equipment modifications, and help resolve equipment malfunctions. Complete initial and renewal application for any accreditations.
  • Uphold safety, environmental, and infection control procedures for the department.
  • Assist in scheduling technologists to ensure adequate staffing for expected patient volume.
  • Intervene with patients to help resolve complaints and issues.
  • Manage supplies effectively.
  • Participate in the emergency call roster within the department.
  • Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors; adhere to all organization policies, procedures, and standards, including time management, supply management, productivity, and quality of service.
  • Encourage individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals contributing to the success of the organization; serve as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
